The phone numbers 214-969-5489 and 415-656-1073 do not refer to any one single pay phone in any one single location. They are most likely outbound trunk numbers of the long distance companies used by the individual pay phones.
When someone makes a coin paid long distance call from most COCOT pay phones, the pay phone does NOT dial the destination number directly. Instead it dials a toll-free number, listens for a 2nd dialtone, then dials the destination number. By doing this, the company that operates the pay phone will get cheaper long distance rates, but a major side effect of dialing calls this way is that the number of the pay phone will NOT be sent as the Caller ID. Instead callers will receive a 'generic' number that often can not be called back.
Please accept the fact that these numbers (214-969-5489, 415-656-1073, etc.) only indicate a call from some pay phone somewhere, not a specific pay phone location.

Just got a call from this number around 6PM. Phones said "Texas"--recorded voice said it was a call from a jail--inmate's name (prerecorded) was given. I hung up. Looked it up here and it appears that this is one of those floating #s that shows up when payphones (from all over the US) or calling cards are used. Sorry, everyone--looks like there is no way to track down these callers.
i keep on getting annoying calls from a phone number with the area code 973 the other day they called on my one day to sleep in at 8 o clock in the morning then at 9 o clock as well, and they call during dinner and lunce sometimes does anyone have any idea where this phone is located?

To "K" in England:
There are a couple of places in England where 911 can be the first three digits of a valid local number. If you just dialed 911 and waited, then after a few seconds the C.O. would timeout and give you the standard "Number you have dialled has not been recognized" message, the same as if you dial any other incomplete number.
Outside of those few places, 911 will just be a vacant code and go directly to "The number you have dialled has not been recognized."
Does anyone know of equipment that can announce a message to the called party before the payphone connects the call and vice versa? Basically when a person uses the payphone, we want the called party to hear a pre-recorded message. When a person is to call the payphone we want the calling party to hear the pre-recorded message.

They do not give you the exact address, but they give you the map of where the payphone is located.

My friend was house sitting and received a collect call from my sister from this number asking for the call to be paid for with a credit card. My sister had her ID stolden in a shelter in the Dallas area. I believe that they are stealing from the shelter on a regular basis and using the iformation to steal information from others. As they are coing acrossed many state lines I believe this is a Federal issue. Idenity theft is a crime. My sister, was coming here. She is now missing and I do not know where she is. She failed to get off the Bus this morning. I know she was in another state from Texas when I talked to her on Thursday morning early. I hope These people are stopped fast.
Chora...get in touch with the Dept. of Corrections to see what you need. In Fl. I needed to have a land line that can accept collect calls. The digital phone companies don't.I had to use AT&T.Have your brother inquire about it as well.Florida can't have prepaid phone plans until they're at work release and are able to have phone cards there. My fiance is in work release in St. Pete and the pay phones there are set up with this company.Pay phones are set up with providers for collect calls differently. In Avon Park, he had a different proveider as well as when he was in Madison.The 727 area code is based out of Pinellas and Pasco counties in Florida. I hope this helps with some of the questions out there.

Hi my friend was talking to this woman who said she lived in kentucky and was going to send him money. so she calls him from a payphone to give him the 10-digit password, well he noticed the area code and looked it up. the number was 213-710-8109. when we looked it up it turned out to be in the los angeles,CA area. ok we could deal with that but when we tried to locate the area of the payphone, the website said it didnt exist. then we called the number and it would make soft static noises then make a clicking sound and go dead and after about 5 seconds the soft static noise would come back and it would start all over again

What about pay phone locations...? Has anyone tested a swath of data to determine listed pay phones as being now out of order due to lack of use?
I think the number 604 550 7000 is the number that shows up from a person who calls using a calling card

I have opened up my telephone line to telemarketers and found out the following telemarketer CIDs are very persistent in the sense they keep calling back every hour:

Honestly, I don't mind to receiving calls from telemarketers. My motto is the more they call, the better merrier I become. If you call my number (678-601-0907), you will find out why. My Line will pick up even before you will hear the 1st ring and it will start telling you the ads. For telemarketers who use predictive dialing, they sure will get to my line before anyone responds to pick up the incoming calls. When telemarketers try to sell me something, I sell them the ads. This is how I get back to them and feel merrier every time. ;)

Since 999 is not an emergency number in America, it can be a telephone prefix, so dialing it will either ring somebody's phone, or you will get a recording that the number is not in service if the Area Code you are in doesn't use that prefix.
How do you reverse charges on a pay phone? I know it sounds silly but i would like to know.

Hey for those of you looking for this number 801-787-4546. It is for a b.c. smith. He owned Star Satellite and is now the president of Stampede Marketing, llc. they do a lot of shady work. A lot of sales reps haven't got paid from them for doing door to door sales for them. THey sell comcast. They also have tried that shady sleazy telemarketing stuff and they are very rude. They have done a lot of shady stuff. Hope this helps.
i use a reverse phone look up and then i ran a background check with an account of mine.... ,I was called around 10am and someone said my wife is trying to make a collect call...and my line doesn't accept it... i new my wife didn't have her cell phone so i said yah, I did not give them a credit card number, then i was disconnected (It was a voice of a lady/girl). never got a call back, so i called the number the first 2 times and it kept on ringing. then i tried the 3rd time and a busy signal.
